Morrison Family College of Health Students Offer Free Care

Field of Interest — May, 2023

$9,000 grant to Morrison Family College of Health, Graduate School of Professional Psychology for Greatest-Need Initiatives

Morrison Family College of Health Director of Health Equity Program Development Melanie Ferris writes,

“The grant was used to support a key initiative in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP): the training of students in our Interprofessional Center for Counseling and Legal Services (IPC) to provide effective psychological assessment and treatment services to under-insured/uninsured clients.

The Interprofessional Center for Counseling and Legal Services (IPC) is a multi-disciplinary training site for graduate students studying psychology, social work, and law to provide free services and treatment to individuals otherwise unable to afford or access care. The IPC’s work to provide students with rich training opportunities while addressing unmet community needs demonstrates the mission of the Morrison Family College of Heath through action. This grant supplemented funding for the IPC faculty who train and supervise students and the IPC co-Director to engage in a planning process that will strengthen partnerships with mission-aligned organizations and integrate nursing students into the inter-disciplinary training and service-delivery model. We appreciate the generous and flexible support of the Catholic Community Foundation of Minnesota this past year helping us advance our mission and our work in the community!”
